304 stainless steel coil is a versatile material with properties such as corrosion resistance, heat resistance and ease of processing. It also offers customized services to meet diverse application requirements.
Product Details
304 stainless steel coils are austenitic stainless steel products with chromium-nickel alloy as the main component. They are non-magnetic or weakly magnetic at room temperature. The common forms include cold-rolled or hot-rolled steel strips and coils. They comply with national standards such as ASTM and JIS. The chromium and nickel contents are respectively not less than 18% and 8%. This material is widely used in fields such as architectural decoration, mechanical manufacturing, food processing, and medical devices, featuring strong corrosion resistance and high plasticity.
The weak magnetism mainly stems from component segregation during the smelting process or improper heat treatment resulting in the presence of ferrite, as well as the transformation of austenite to martensite caused by cold processing deformation. Regions with severe deformation such as the folded corners of square and rectangular tubes have significantly enhanced magnetism. This can be restored to stable austenite structure through high-temperature solid solution treatment to demagnetize. Unlike strong-magnetic stainless steels such as 430, its magnetic characteristics, combined with the spark identification method, can be used as a basis for material identification. The composition differences between 202 and 304 materials need to be identified through professional testing.
